Behind The Scenes

Amar’e’s designs on big ideas

Despite what the picture after the jump is depicting, Amar’e Stoudemire is wearing many hats these days.

For the Revenge Of The Jocks issue of ESPN The Magazine out this week, the New York Knicks star forward subbed for Samantha Rubin as the publication’s fashion editor.

Like the video above, the photo features his handiwork, dressing NFL running back Marshawn Lynch and freestyle skiier Sarah Burke for their appearances on the ESPYS two weeks ago.

“It was a very, very elegant look,” Stoudemire said.

But Stoudemire has many other business ventures stirring.

Wednesday, it was reported that Stoudemire has a strategic partnership with Big Lead Sports. He’ll become a regular contributor to the company’s web sites and acquire a stake in the firm.

Later this fall, Stoudemire is launching a women’s fashion line with designer Rachel Roy and Macy’s.

And even if the NBA lockout drags into the fall, Stoudemire might still be holding court.

Monday, the Knicks star told ESPNNewYork.com that he might play overseas in case of an extended lockout.

Stoudemire said while he’s still rehabilitating from last season’s aches and pains, he’s not entertaining offers.

Still, they’ve been coming from pro teams in “Israel, China, Turkey and Spain,” he said.

As for his experience working with ESPN The Magazine — the Revenge Of The Jocks issue was overseen by Guest Editor-In-Chief Adrian Peterson of the Minnesota Vikings — Stoudemire wants to be part of a sequel.

“It was a great opportunity for me, a lot of fun, and I can’t wait to do it again, ” he said.
