When ESPN Front Rowlast left David Pollack, he was heading to his home an hour from Atlanta after calling the Virginia Tech at Georgia Tech game with the Thursday night team. On Friday, he returned to his alma mater for the first time on air there with “College GameDay analyst” on his dossier. Saturday morning’s turnout for the show was one of the best in recent history, complete with painted faces, painted pooches, marching bands, creative signs, two celebrity guest pickers (pro golfer Bubba Watson and Duck Dynasty star Willie Robertson) and tailgating galore. Pollack reflected on his time back on campus in Athens, where he left an indelible mark as a three-time All-American defensive end there.
What stood out to you upon your return to your school as a GameDay analyst on the set?

This weekend, ESPN debuted a new ad campaign for its flagship program, SportsCenter, that celebrates fans’ emotional connection with the show and focuses on the iconic sound all fans associate with it.
Entitled “DaDaDa DaDaDa,” the TV spots feature a wide range of professional athletes, amateur athletes and fans who call out their “DaDaDa” moments. A wide range of achievements are shown in the spots as “DaDaDa” moments. “DaDaDa” is meant to signify a significant achievement – something compelling enough to earn its way onto SportsCenter. The idea for the initiative, created in collaboration with creative agency Wieden + Kennedy New York, was developed following a year of research aimed at understanding the role SportsCenter plays in fans’ lives.
“One fan said that the SportsCenter music is like the ice cream truck music for adults — people hear it and come running,” said Aaron Taylor, senior vice president of marketing at ESPN. “That really resonated with us – we wanted to take something that is part of our culture ["Da,Da,Da"] and shine a light on it, and I think that’s what we’ve done here.”
SAN FRANCISCO — Three of golf’s biggest stars will be in the same grouping for the first two rounds of the 112th U.S. Open, which starts Thursday at Olympic Club.
Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Bubba Watson are slated to tee off at 10:33 a.m. ET, 90 minutes prior to the Noon Eastern start of ESPN’s live U.S. Open coverage.
The storylines are intriguing. Will Tiger’s return to prominence be completed with a major win? Will Mickelson finally win his first U.S. Open? And will long-driving wild-child Watson parlay his Masters victory into a second major?
What’s a golf fan to do for the trio’s first hour and a half of play?
There are options.
SportsCenter, ESPN’s signature news and information program, will be doing live look-ins to the play at Olympic both mornings and will be following the progress of the Tiger-Phil-Bubba trio, in addition to updates on others on the course.
