The Monday Lineup: 8 ESPN moments from the weekend PLUS Prepping for NFL kickoff

Yesterday when ESPN celebrated its 35th birthday, the Sunday NFL Countdown crew gave a nod toward the network’s early years and NFL seasons of old – including a look at commentators Chris Berman and Tom Jackson through their 27 years working together – and then fast-forwarded to the present, welcoming fans to their new home in Studio W.

Complete with two floors, three main sets and six mini-set possibilities, the 9,000-square-foot space in ESPN’s Digital Center 2 will serve as the new location for all of ESPN’s NFL studio shows, including tonight’s edition of Monday Night Countdown (5 p.m. ET, ESPN).

Leading into the 45th season of Monday Night Football and the season-opening doubleheader – New York Giants at Detroit Lions (7 p.m.) and San Diego Chargers at Arizona Cardinals (10:15 p.m.) – the two-hour pregame show includes analyst Jon Gruden’s interview with Lions running back Reggie Bush and sideline reporter Lisa Salters’ conversation with New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin.
