MINNEAPOLIS — Before serving as host of the Gillette Home Run Derby (8 p.m. ET, ESPN), ESPN’s Chris Berman was, first and foremost, a fan.
“We grew up knowing about Babe Ruth, we grew up marveling about Willie Mays and Hank Aaron,” Berman recalls. “The Home Run Derby is a celebration of the biggest sluggers in the game and the longest homers.”
In this video, as well as in tonight’s opening tease, set to singer Aloe Blacc’s cover of “Come Fly with Me,” Berman shares his favorite Derby moments through the years. He also talks about the new format changes in 2014.
Berman will captain ESPN’s 22nd consecutive Home Run Derby telecast from Target Field, home of the Minnesota Twins. He’ll be joined by Sunday Night Baseball analyst John Kruk and ESPN MLB Insiders Buster Olney and Pedro Gomez.
