Welcome to another edition of #TBT: Throwback Thursday. Today, we offer a snapshot look at how ESPN’s Super Bowl-related programming has grown.

This week, ESPN is devoting more than 115 hours of live television and radio programming related to Super Bowl XLVIII.

In 1990 before Super Bowl XXIV in New Orleans, ESPN’s live coverage buildup to the game consisted primarily of Chris Berman, Tom Jackson, Pete Axthelm and Joe Theismann providing daily updates on SportsCenter. NFL GameDay and NFL PrimeTime were televised live on Super Bowl Sunday at 10:30 a.m. and 11:00 p.m., respectively. Other pre-game programming consisted mainly of NFL Films past Super Bowl highlights.
