“More Than a Bowl Game.” This is the mantra of the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl that has been paying tribute to the United States Armed Forces for the last eight years in Fort Worth, Texas – home to the ESPN owned-and-operated bowl game (the bowl has been in Fort Worth for 11 years overall).

The game is played in honor of the armed forces and has previously hosted the U.S. Military Academy (2010), the U.S. Air Force Academy (2007, 2008, 2009 and 2012) and for the first time in 2013, the U.S. Naval Academy, which will meet Middle Tennessee State today (11:45 a.m. ET, ESPN/WatchESPN/ESPN Radio). The game also will have a live feed to our armed forces in Afghanistan and across the American Forces Network at over 37 international locations around the globe.

“I’m honored to be the executive director of the Armed Forces Bowl and our staff works hard to make sure we uphold our slogan that we are ‘More Than a Bowl Game’,” said Executive Director Brant Ringler. “It is our mission to help make a difference in people’s lives in a positive manner and to create memories for so many armed forces families. It’s just our small way of saying thanks for all they have done to protect our freedoms.”
