Editor’s note: Welcome to “Off Camera with. . .,” a Front Row series that introduces you to some of the studio anchors who have recently joined ESPN. Today, we meet Matt Barrie, who joined ESPN in March 2013 as a SportsCenter anchor.

Favorite place to travel: My favorite places to travel are Las Vegas and Rome. I can’t elaborate on Vegas, it’s a family show. But, Rome was the single greatest place I’ve ever been. To see the history still alive and well, mingle with the locals and have dinners with my wife on patios every night. It was an experience I’ll never forget.

What is your pet’s name?: O’Shea, he’s a yellow lab we rescued in Dallas.

Pet peeve: Walking texters

Thankful for: My wife, family and friends

Words of wisdom: Shower daily

Favorite season of year: Fall

Favorite TV show: The Sopranos

Favorite Book: Outliers, by Malcolm Gladwell

Favorite Movies Goodfellas, The Departed, The Hangover, Christmas Vacation, Friday Night Lights and Rudy

Movie I Was forced to watch with wife: Pitch Perfect

Favorite hobby: My hobbies are two things that involve activities that cause bad moods: golf and roulette. I started playing golf at around 12 years old. Growing up in Arizona and playing sports it seemed like the fun thing to do. And it was when I was young, and I haven’t gotten any better since.

With roulette, there’s nothing more thrilling than watching the little white marble on the roulette spin around and not fall in your number. Money. Down. The. Drain.
