Editor’s note: Front Row’s Intern Chronicles series showcases ESPN’s summer interns. This is the third installment of 2013, written by Communications Intern Jordan Thomas.
This year, ESPN’s internship program received more than 15,000 applications. The company selected 70 interns and 16 of them were from Southeastern Conference institutions. Often, schools produce more than one quality candidate.
Coinciding with the SEC coaches who are visiting ESPN this week, Front Row introduced you to nine SEC interns on Monday.
Here are seven more SEC interns representing schools who have coaches on ESPN’s Bristol, Conn. campus.
Andrea Tucker, Tennessee, Commercial Operations Intern
What has been your coolest ESPN experience so far?
I’ve had a few but the coolest so far is meeting/networking with Gerry Matalon — who is the Senior Coordinating Producer for Talent Planning and Development — since I want to be on-air someday.
Quianna Lige, Kentucky, Content Screening Intern
How has college best prepared you for your ESPN internship?
Working with UK’s Student News Network taught me how to log information, look for in-cues and outcues and learn what viewers like to watch. It made my transition to content screening much easier.

What has been your coolest ESPN experience so far?
I really enjoyed the intern Q&A session with [Executive Vice President, Sales and Marketing] Sean Bratches. This was a great opportunity to learn more about Sales and Marketing and ask questions about the parts of the company that interest you.

What has been your coolest ESPN experience so far?
Getting to work with my wise superiors has been incredibly humbling. There’s so much to learn from them, and they’re always willing to answer questions and help me get the most out of this experience.

What’s your favorite food at ESPN’s café and how does it compare to your favorite pre-game tailgate meal?
The buffalo chicken wrap is by far one of the best items in the café. It exceeds the standards of a traditional pre-game tailgate meal.

What is your favorite part about working at ESPN?
I love working in the international networks and coordinating between control rooms in Mexico, Miami, and Bristol all at once.

What is your favorite part about working at ESPN?
I had the opportunity to work with the team that developed the website for the ESPYS. It was incredible to be a part of a website launch, be one of the first people to vote, and see the buzz around the voting that I helped create.
