The 2013 ESPYS Presented by Capital One air this Wednesday and Maria Sharapova will be joining fellow celebrities such as Ben Affleck, LeBron James, Paula Patton and Kevin Bacon as an award presenter. A frequent nominee herself, this year she’s up for “Best Female Tennis Player.”

Sharapova took a quick break from practice to chat about why she enjoys attending the ESPYS.

This is your fifth time attending the ESPYS. What do you like best about coming out for the show?
The ESPYS is such a wonderful night of combining sport and fashion. To see these accomplished athletes suited up in style — it is so much fun to be a part of.

What are your favorite moments or speeches?
There have so many entertaining, funny and memorable moments. One of the best speeches ever given at the show was one I think so many remember — [replays of] Jimmy Valvano’s inspirational speech.

You are presenting an award this year. Are there any keys to being a good presenter at The ESPYS?
Not really any specific keys, aside from just don’t trip when you walk out!

The ESPYS red carpet gives athletes a chance to dress up and show their style. How far in advance do you start planning out what you’re going to wear?
I usually decide what I’m going to finally wear the day of the show. I practice and train earlier in the day, then I make my final decision on the dress after I get out of the shower.

Note: Fans can still vote for their favorites up to the start of the show by visiting ESPN.com/ESPYS. The 21st annual celebration of the best moments from the year in sports will be televised live from Los Angeles and the Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE on Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN/ESPN HD.
