Listeners know Mike & Mike co-host Mike Golic is an excitable individual, whether it’s about Notre Dame, his kids’ athletic accomplishments, or even doughnuts.
His son Mike, Jr., a Notre Dame offensive lineman entering this past weekend’s NFL Draft, expresses excitement differently. Moments after signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers as a free agent – after going undrafted — Mike Jr. Tweeted:
Big Mike says, “We were all together at Notre Dame with him – Chris (his wife), Jake (youngest son, also a football player at ND), and Sydney (daughter, who is on ND swim team). So, it was a very special moment, seeing a child of yours realizing a dream, whether it’s football or any other passion that person has. He’s just happy the process is now over and he can just concentrate on what they all want to concentrate on, and that is playing football.”
Mike Jr. is not the only son of an ESPN employee to get a chance to join the NFL. Duron Carter, son of ESPN NFL analyst Cris Carter, received an invitation to join the Minnesota Vikings, the team his father played for during most of his Hall of Fame career.
The Vikings have invited Duron Carter to try out for a roster spot during rookie minicamp, GM Rick Spielman told 1500ESPN.com.
