Front & Center: ESPN’s Mike Golic on returning to Notre Dame this week

Mike & Mike in the Morning previously originated from South Bend in 2006 when Greenberg, paying off his “Sheets of Integrity Bracket Wager” loss to Golic, wore the Notre Dame Leprechaun mascot outfit during the broadcast. (ESPN)

ESPN invades South Bend, Ind. this weekend, and famed Golden Domer Mike Golic is leading the charge.

Friday morning, Golic and co-host Mike Greenberg will air ESPN Radio’s Mike & Mike In The Morning (6-10 a.m., M-F, simulcast on ESPN2) from The University of Notre Dame. Fighting Irish football coach Brian Kelly will be among the on-set guests (8:45 ET), as will ESPN’s Desmond Howard (9:30).

The show will air from Library Mall, on the lawn between the stadium and the library, with Touchdown Jesus as the backdrop.

A dropkick away on the ND campus and hours later Saturday, ESPN’s College GameDay Built by The Home Depot will air (9 a.m. on ESPNU, 10 a.m. on ESPN) before the No. 7-ranked Irish play host No.17 Stanford at 3:30 p.m.

In the Front & Center podcast above, Golic — a former Fighting Irish star and the father of two Notre Dame players Mike Jr. (a center) and Jake (a tight end) — talks about returning to campus this weekend; his opportunity to see his daughter’s first swim meet for the Irish and whether or not Greeny will be able to stay for the game (HINT: Saturday is a popular day for mani/pedis!).
