Tim Brown and “Rudy” at home in the Nissan Heisman House

“I’ve been ready for this my whole life…”

Those famous, inspirational words spoken by Fightin’ Irish hero Daniel “Rudy” Ruettiger are part of one of the most iconic sports films of all time.

Except, they are actually spoken by actor Sean Astin, who still — 19 years later — gets mistaken for the famous character he once portrayed.

In the latest spot from the Nissan Heisman House, a project of ESPN’s CreativeWorks team, 1987 Heisman winner Tim Brown — one of seven Heisman honorees from the university — reminisces with Astin about their days at Notre Dame. Astin’s kind enough to play along.

The spot (view it above) will make its TV debut on Saturday evening in primetime on ESPN. Other Nissan Heisman House spots will premiere in coming weeks featuring other notable Heisman winners. There’s also an interactive website where you can learn more about the special fraternity.

Notre Dame faces Michigan State on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET live from Spartan Stadium in East Lansing, Mich. on ABC. ESPN’s proud alums, Mike Golic and Magic Johnson, have a friendly wager on the game, which they established on Friday’s “Mike and Mike in the Morning” show. Listen here.
