NFL analyst Eric Mangini grew up in ESPN’s backyard in Hartford, Conn.

And while pro football coaching jobs have sent him to New England, New York and Cleveland, Mangini has never forgotten his hometown.

Eleven years ago, he started a Football Fundamentals Mini-Camp. One of the signature events of his foundation, the one-day, non-contact camp returns Saturday to Hartford’s Bulkeley High School with the goal of providing a unique athletic and learning opportunity to students in the area between grades 8-12, particularly students who are under-resourced.

The camp will include several hundred students and more than 100 coaches, including many of Mangini’s NFL friends, such as Jets head coach Rex Ryan, as well as former linebacker and current Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive line coach Bryan Cox, who has participated in all 10 previous camps.

On this Front & Center podcast, Mangini discusses this weekend’s camp and about making the transition from head coach to ESPN analyst now that he’s completed his own rookie season in studio.
