WatchESPN now available to
Comcast XFINITY TV customers

WatchESPN delivers ESPN anytime, anywhere.

This morning, Comcast launched WatchESPN, the award-winning app that delivers a live stream of ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3 and ESPNU to your PC, smartphone or tablet. Now, Comcast subscribers can enjoy all of ESPN’s programming on-the-go or as a second screen in the home.

ESPN’s Matt Murphy, senior vice president, digital video distribution, provides details.

Can you explain how Comcast and ESPN came together to offer WatchESPN?
Back in January, we signed a long-term agreement with Comcast which, among other things, promised to bring WatchESPN to Comcast subscribers. Over the past few months, our teams worked together closely to integrate the WatchESPN experience across Comcast’s platforms.

Why is this launch so important for sports fans in Comcast markets?
At ESPN, we’re always looking for ways to serve sports fans and nothing fulfills that goal more than bringing WatchESPN to new viewers. The NBA playoffs are here, Major League Baseball is in full swing and Euro 2012 is just around the corner. For sports fans, it’s a great time to have access to ESPN, 24/7 on all of your devices.

What’s next for fans who don’t yet have access?
With this launch, we are actually doubling the universe of subscribers who can access WatchESPN. In total, 40 million subscribers will now have access to the product including customers with Time Warner Cable, Brighthouse and Verizon FiOS subscriptions. Of course, we continue to be engaged in discussions with our affiliated providers about bringing the product to more viewers.

This launch brings WatchESPN to Comcast subscribers on PCs, iPads and iPhones. Download the app for free in the Apple store and use your Comcast account to log in and authenticate your service. Android devices will be added at a later date.
