It was announced today that Lisa Salters has been named the new sideline reporter for ESPN’s Monday Night Football.
No stranger to ESPN viewers, Salters is one of the lead reporters for ESPN on ABC’s NBA coverage, as well as a featured correspondent on the ESPN news magazine, E:60.
Beginning this fall, she will join Mike Tirico and Jon Gruden on the weekly MNF games and contribute reports to ESPN’s Monday afternoon studio shows from the MNF city.
In the Front & Center podcast above, Salters discusses MNF and reporting, her ABC News background, the famous former NFL player in her family (who has a special MNF moment of his own), and the recent whirlwind trip she took to Rwanda with The Girl Effect to teach young girls about journalism.
Salters’ new MNF teammates offer their reactions to today’s announcement:
Tirico: “Lisa and I have worked on the same NBA crew for most of the last five years and she is a true pro, solid journalist and always makes the broadcast better. Lisa is a great addition to our Monday Night Football team and we look forward to her joining us this season.”
Gruden: “It’s great to have Lisa on our team. She does great work and she loves Monday Night Football.”
