On Thursday, ESPN announced a significant move for ESPN New York’s radio division. Beginning Monday, April 30, ESPN New York 1050 AM will switch to ESPN New York 98.7 FM, becoming New York’s first 24/7 sports talk radio station on the FM band. For the next few months the stations will simulcast content but in September, to coincide with Hispanic Heritage Month, 1050 AM will become a full-time affiliate ESPN Deportes Radio station.

More information on the changes can be found here and here. In the Front & Center podcast above, Mo Davenport, senior vice president ESPN Audio and Oscar Ramos, senior director and general manager of ESPN Deportes Radio and Digital Content, share some of their thoughts on what impact the changes will have for metropolitan New York sports fans. In another first for our podcast, the final question of the interview is asked and responded to entirely in Spanish.

Take a listen to get a feel for what the moves encompass and how excited ESPN is to once again be leading the way in audio.
