Behind The Scenes

ESPN.com unveils NFL Any Era Team

Fans often wonder how the best NFL players today would fare in past decades.

Would the size, speed, skill and football intelligence of current elite athletes make them successful in any era?

And, if so, who would be the best of the best?

ESPN.com sets out to answer that very question this week with the unveiling of its NFL Any Era Team, a multimedia package launching today.

It will reveal the top 20 current NFL players who could play in any era of the NFL, as voted on by a panel of 20 Pro Football Hall of Famers and ESPN.com senior writer John Clayton. The first four players revealed today were Peyton Manning, Tim Tebow, Ndamukong Suh and Dwight Freeney.

The project concludes on Friday with the unveiling of the top four players.

Two members of the distinguished Hall of Fame panel, James Lofton and John Randle, recently visited the ESPN campus and discussed the project with Front Row in the video above.
