Editor’s year-end picks: Promoting ‘MNF’ with logo unveiling, ads

Editor’s note: As 2012 approaches, Front Row will revisit a few of our most popular posts from our first nine months of existence — just in case you missed them the first time.

As we anticipate the end of another exciting NFL regular season and the start of the playoffs, it’s hard to believe that those prospects seemed very dim just a few months ago.

In late spring, the NFL was in the midst of a labor dispute that would last 132 days before being resolved in July. It seems like ancient history that, indeed, the 2011 season was in doubt.

On June 9, Front Row published a first look at a refined Monday Night Football logo courtesy of ESPN Creative Services.

That post spread like wildfire as NFL fans revealed their hunger for literally any “sign” there would be a season.

It was easily one of Front Row’s most popular posts.

Likewise, the first of several video ads promoting ESPN’s new “Is It Monday Yet?” campaign was unveiled on Front Row in August.

This “Animal Control” spot also proved very popular with Front Row readers.
