On the Car Wash: Sooners

The Oklahoma Sooners, ranked No. 1 in nation in the ESPN College Football Preseason Power Rankings, stormed Bristol recently for their first player-oriented Car Wash.

Oklahoma QB Landry Jones and WR Ryan Broyles brought their Southern charm to our studios.

These two Heisman hopefuls made the usual stops including, SportsCenter, First Take, College Football Live and SportsNation.

However, highlights of the day came when the Sooners traded in their khakis and dress shoes for workout gear and cleats to hit the ESPN Football Field for some pass routes and even a few trick plays.

Jones completed a pass thrown over a 30-foot high ESPN skywalk structure to Broyles more than 45 yards away.

It was easily the most unique touchdown we’ve had on campus.

The Sooners’ recent trip to Haiti was frequent subject matter during interviews.

While most college students can’t wait to get home for break, these young men (along with other Oklahoma athletes) worked at the Mission of Hope in Titanyen, Haiti.

The Mission Of Hope is a complex consisting of a clinic, church, orphanage and school.

“It was an amazing experience to be with these kids and help a community that needs it so much,” said Jones.

But don’t let their compassionate side fool you. These Sooners came camera-ready and really enjoyed the spotlight.

“I love it,” said Broyles as he spoke with Oklahoma Sports Information Director Kenny Mossman.

“Kenny, set up more of this stuff for us throughout the season.”

The Sooners have the spotlight this month on various ESPN platforms.

College Football Special: Oklahoma All-Access airs this week on ESPNU as well as College Football Live and SportsCenter.
