Bump and Run: Les Miles

All 12 Southeastern Conference head football coaches descended on Bristol, Conn. this week.

The coaches, who were coming off the madness of SEC Media Day, were all put through ESPN’s Car Wash.

I was able to catch up with LSU’s Les Miles, one of the sport’s most interesting characters.

In the video above, Miles discusses his trip to ESPN and his unusual, yet hilarious, relationship with SportsCenter anchor and ESPN Radio personality Scott Van Pelt.

Van Pelt, who refers to Miles as “The Wizard,” teased the coach about his game shoes on his radio show last year.

Miles responded by sending Van Pelt one — not a pair, but one — of his game shoes.

The saga continued as Van Pelt sent Miles a pair of purple-and-yellow Converse basketball shoes.

Van Pelt told me that he thought it would end there, but this was “The Wizard” he was messing with.

Miles proceeded to make a short film (see below) that includes playing basketball against his two children, dunking and — of course — his new shoes courtesy of Van Pelt.
