Many ESPN analysts are former athletes and coaches, establishing careers in sport media after retirement.

These analysts are able to provide an inside perspective into the sports they cover because they lived it.

What if you had to balance being both an analyst and an athlete at the same time?

That’s everyday life for Delvin Rodriguez (25-5-3, 14KOs) , a junior middleweight who doubles as an ESPNDeportes boxing analyst.

The July 15 edition of ESPN’s Friday Night Fights featured Rodriguez and Pawel Wolak (29-1-1, 19 KOs) — ranked No. 10 in ESPN.com’s divisional rankings — brawling in a 10-round majority draw.

The bout could be considered a potential fight of the year.

It was so good, ESPN2, ESPN Deportes and ESPN Classic repeated it the next week.

In the video above with Viernes de Combates host Jose Hernandez, Rodriguez discusses how he balances being a fighter and analyst — and his hopes to get a rematch with Wolak.

Rodriguez (blue trunks) got his point across to Wolak. See footage of the fight in the video above.
