WWC: Who are the favorites?

On the eve of the opening matches of the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Germany, ESPN analysts and members of the 1999 WWC champion U.S. Women’s National Team Brandi Chastain and Briana Scurry discuss the thrill of competing in this event and offer their thoughts on this year’s field in the video above.

Which of the 32 nations will emerge victorious?

Our analysts have their predictions, but the world will find out Sunday, July 17, when the champion is crowned in Frankfurt.

ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPN3.com will present all 32 matches live the next three weeks, beginning Sunday with Nigeria vs. France (8:45 a.m. ET, ESPN2) in Sinsheim, followed by host and defending champion Germany vs. Canada (11:30 a.m., ESPN) from the Olympiastadion in Berlin.
