As Front Row reported on May 7, ESPN NFL analyst Tedy Bruschi is participating in a league-sponsored Mt. Kilimanjaro climb in Tanzania, Africa to raise awareness for the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP).

On Wednesday, Bruschi and the expedition team, nicknamed “Team Hard Target,” woke up around midnight and started a long arduous climb to the summit on Day 8 of their journey.

They checked in at Stella Point at sunrise around 6:30 a.m. local time and reached their goal, the Mt. Kili summit, at Uhuru Peak (elevation: 19,340 ft.) around 7:15 a.m.

After celebrating the milestone, they started their decent back to Mweka Camp at 10,000 ft., capping off the day’s 15-hour hike.

Bruschi: “We were climbing in the dark and freezing rain. Then, we saw the most amazing sunrise that I’ve ever seen in my life. Very difficult climb, but well worth it to make it to Uhuru Peak.”

Bruschi will return home this weekend and will be back on NFL Live (4 p.m., ESPN) on Tuesday, May 24, when he will discuss his experience. He is also contributing reports from his trip to ESPNBoston.com.
